Easter was always my mom's favorite holiday, and her annual party always involved flowers, friends and food. So, in spite of planning until the very last minute to go away this weekend, S. said he wasn't at all surprised that we were hosting an Easter brunch for 10 today.
O. was up at 6 this morning because he was so excited about finding all the Easter eggs that we had hidden.
He wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny requesting that he just drop off the basket and have S. and I hide the eggs. He was uncomfortable with the idea of a stranger hiding things in his house while he was asleep. When you put it that way, I can't say I blame him.
After O. found all of the eggs, he re-hid some of them for his sister who was still sleeping. When she woke up, O. came rushing in shouting "Eggs! Candy!" Needless to say, she got up and out of bed pretty quickly, even if she had no idea what holiday it was, or why he was talking about eggs.
She caught on pretty quickly.
Getting ready for the party, Z. got changed into her new dress from nana, and O. worked on writing up a menu.
On the menu were crepes with lemon curd and ricotta in addition to the items O. lists above, baked corn, coconut-blueberry baked oatmeal, raspberry scones, raspberry-cinnamon-pecan bread, and coconut cream pie. These are definitely some of our favorite recipes from some of my favorite food blogs.
Friends, flowers and food. I think this may be one of my favorite holidays as well.
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend as well, whether or not you had a strange bunny drop off eggs and candy.
PS The comments have been fixed - you no longer need a special profile to leave a comment...I hope. Let me know if it still doesn't work. xoxo
Looks like you had a wonderful Easter. We had a great day too - lots of food, candy, flowers. The Easter Bunny was here and we had an egg hunt with Christina and Stevie. We were just missing all of you! xoxoxoxo
